A unique book-with-CD package that documents studio recordings made in 1991, featuring the seminal Bay Area improvising group the Splatter Trio, which featured Gino Robair, Myles Boisen, and myself, and on this occasion, special guest poet Steve Benson, a founding members of the L==A=N=G=U=A=G=E school of poetics. This meeting of creative minds yielded a treasure trove of timeless improvised spoken word and music. Rather than the trio “backing” Steve, the group became a quartet, all on equal footing, having series of very lively and often funny four-way conversations. The book includes essays by all four artists, transcriptions of Steve’s improvised poems from the session, an extensive selection of Steve’s previously unpublished poetry from that period, an original essay by poet Norman Fischer, original collages by me, and more. Available for purchase through Bandcamp.
Other Splatter Trio recordings available on Bandcamp include Hi-Fi Junk Note, Clear the Club, Anagrams, Recombinance (Live), and our eponymous debut Splatter Trio.
